چکیده

The description of the spatial characteristics of twoand three-dimensional objects, in the framework of MPEG-7, is considered. The shape of an object is one of its fundamental properties, and this paper describes an e$cient way to represent the coarse shape, scale and composition properties of an object. This representation is invariant to resolution, translation and rotation, and may be used for both two-dimensional (2-D) and three-dimensional (3-D) objects. This coarse shape descriptor will be included in the eXperimentation Model (XM) of MPEG-7. Applications of such a description to search object databases, in particular the CAESAR anthropometric database are discussed. ( 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.

Combining and Steganography of 3-D Face Textures

One of the serious issues in communication between people is hiding information from the others, and the best way for this, is to deceive them. Since nowadays face images are mostly used in three dimensional format, in this paper we are going to steganography 3-D face images and detecting which by curious people will be impossible. As in detecting face only, its texture is important, we separat...

A Time-Domain Method for Shape Reconstruction of a Target with Known Electrical Properties (RESEARCH NOTE)

This paper uses a method for shape reconstruction of a 2-D homogeneous object with arbitrary geometry and known electrical properties. In this method, the object is illuminated by a Gaussian pulse, modulated with sinusoidal carrier plane wave and the time domains’ footprint signal due to object presence is used for the shape reconstruction. A nonlinear feedback loop is used to minimize the diff...

The Delaunay/Voronoi Selection Graph: A Method for Extracting Shape Information from 2-D Dot-patterns with an Extension to 3-D

In this paper we present the Delaunay/Voronoi selection graph (DVSG), an approach to the representation of the shape of 2-D objects which does not require a complete segmentation, merely a pattern of dots which are believed to lie on the edges of objects. The technique produces both a skeleton and boundary representation and, with subsequent processing, generates a hierarchical description of t...

Generalizing the Active Shape Model by Integrating Structural Knowledge to Recognize Hand Drawn Sketches

We propose a new deformable shape model Active Shape Structural Model (ASSM) for recognition and reconstruction. The main features of ASSM are: (1) It describes variations of shape not only statistically as Active shape/Appearance model but also by structural variations. (2) Statistical and structural prior knowledge is integrated resulting in a multi-resolution shape description such that the ...

Parametrization of Closed Surfaces for 3-D Shape Description

This paper presents procedures for the explicit parametric representation and global description of surfaces of simply connected 3-D objects. The novel techniques overcome severe limitations of earlier methods (restriction to star-shaped objects 1], constraints on positioning and shape of cross-sections 2, 3], and nonhomogeneous distribution of parameter space). We parametrize the surface by de...
